First Use of Plantar Marks in England

Postby claireweenie » Fri Feb 06, 2009 9:46 am

Good Morning,

I am a Trainee Fingerprint Expert currently revising Fingerprinting History for my upcoming Beginners course.
I am aware that Sydney Malkin was the first person in England charged on Plantar evidence (1st May 1956) and that his footmark was found at the point of entry. I also know he was sentenced to be 'bound over' for 3 years.

However, I can't find anywhere what crime he committed!??!? Anyone any clues?

Thanks in advance!

There was a thread on this last year and there's mention of an article that may be of help to you. I think Charles may have the article as he's the one who references it.

Check this out:

Good luck!
