Finger print leads to arrest of ex-boyfriend in home break-in
A detective was dispatched to the scene and was able to lift several fingerprints from the interior and exterior near where the bathroom window had been broken out. The fingerprint cards were taken to the Gaston County Police Department to be analyzed by crime scene officers. One of the fingerprints came back to Michael Alvin Punch, 29, from Dallas.

Bob Costello, Remillard’s attorney, argued for a lesser bail, calling into question the accuracy of some of the information presented. Costello said that police had to use some sort of enhancement technique to lift the prints off the bank note since they could not be lifted using conventional methods. "To what extent that enhancement may have affected the fingerprints, I don’t know," he said, but it’s possible they could have been tainted.
