‘Done deal’ prosecution of man who shot parole officer ends in a surprise mistrial
The judge found that a digital file of a fingerprint found on the weapon was not given to the defense as is required by law. The defense lawyer got only a life-size thumbnail of the fingerprint, sources said. "My client is entitled to a fair trial in accordance with the law and without this evidence he couldn't have one," defense lawyer Kenneth Perry said. A detective testified last week that the fingerprint is incomplete and cannot be compared to any other.

Police solve bank robbery with single fingerprint
Police said fingerprints are, in large part, water-based and in the summer heat, can quickly degrade. The quick actions of detectives likely preserved the single fingerprint that was found. In less than 24 hours, Peoria police crime scene technicians managed to turn their one piece of evidence into the name of a suspect.

Cops nab TD Bank robbery suspect
Bob Costello, Remillard’s attorney, argued for a lesser bail, calling into question the accuracy of some of the information presented. Costello said that police had to use some sort of enhancement technique to lift the prints off the bank note since they could not be lifted using conventional methods. "To what extent that enhancement may have affected the fingerprints, I don’t know," he said, but it’s possible they could have been tainted.
