Latent Examiner duties include: analyze evidence for latent impressions, conduct comparisons between unknown and known fingerprints, establish identifications, utilize an alternate light source (OmniChrome and PoliLight) to search for biological evidence and latent impressions, utilize traditional and digital photography, utilize a digital imaging system (MoreHits) to track digital images, utilize Adobe Photoshop to enhance digital images, evaluate latent impressions for AFIS submission and enter the impressions deemed sufficient, write reports referencing my findings, respond to crime scenes to conduct a variety of duties, serial number reconstruction and recovery, fingerprint deceased individuals via traditional methods or by reconstructing ridge structure, testify in court as an expert witness
Supervisory duties include: supervise three employees, perform formal evaluations, order supplies and maintain budget, determine major equipment needs and assist in securing monies for those purchases, maintain Lab statistics and provide statistical reports on a monthly and annual basis, train new employees, maintain the functioning of the Lab on a daily basis.
