This 40-hour course is designed to be of value to those
individuals seeking a career in the fingerprint
classification/identification profession and for law enforcement
investigators and crime scene personnel.
This course is very similar to the FBI Basic Fingerprint Course.
The curriculum serves as the first level
of formal training in developing the educational foundation for a
fingerprint technician. This is a 40-hour course in the Henry System
of fingerprint classification, as modified by the FBI, and the method of
obtaining National Crime Information Center fingerprint classification.
The course includes practical work in pattern interpretation, ridge
counting and whorl tracing. It will enable the student to classify
fingerprint cards according to the Henry System. In addition, this
course will cover the methodologies and procedures for making a comparison
of inked fingerprints.
The
course is limited to 25 students. There is a $50 course fee
to
enroll in this class. A certificate of completion will be awarded for
completion of the course.
The
course instructor is Jerry Bahr, retired Florida Department of Law
Enforcement.
