Formatting a
Smiley for submission
1) Rotate your Smiley face-up and crop the image to the desired area.
In Photoshop, you can "image" "rotate
canvass" "arbitrary" for exact degrees. While selecting the area to crop
as a perfect square, maintain
proportions of the selection by holding the "shift" key while dragging the box.
Try to get some ridge structure around the Smiley, but don't capture the whole
print. (see below example)

2)
Re-size to 3 inches height and width, and resample to 100 ppi.
In Photoshop, go to "image" then
"image size". Check the "resample" box and enter "3 inches" for either
image width or height and "100" for resolution.
3)
Enhance the image
In Photoshop, "image" "adjust" the
"levels" for whites and blacks, and OK. The point is not pore and edge
structure... it's a good looking over-all view, so enhance accordingly. :)
4) Adjust the canvass.
In Photoshop, make sure the background
color is black (the hidden color box in the tool box palette). Go to
"image" then "canvass size". Enter "4 inches" for height and check the up
arrow so your original image ends up at the top of your new image.
5) Type your name and agency
Using the "Comic Sans" WHITE font and
the type tool with an appropriate font size (start with 24 points), fill the
black portion with your name on top and your agency on the bottom. Feel
free to abbreviate if necessary. (K. Wertheim) (San Bernardino SO) etc.
6)
Save As a .jpg with "high" quality
In Photoshop, this setting is about a
"9".
7) Create a new e-mail and attach that .jpg!
That's all there is to it!!
