Officers Get Refresher Course In Fingerprinting

By HomeTown Channel.com staff

Some Oklahoma police officers should feel more confident in their ability to collect fingerprints.

On Wednesday, officers from different agencies in LeFlore County went to a fingerprinting refresher course.

Fingerprinting is important to many investigations, police said, and often a small mistake can throw off an entire investigation.

"We have to get best fingerprint for them to be readable because if they aren't readable, we aren't able to put criminal offenses in system," said Jenny Virden of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

The OSBI taught the course. It also offers classes in filling out reports and compiling criminal statistics.
